Renewing your medicare planWhile you do not need to renew your Medicare coverage, it is a good idea to review your coverage annually.

This typically holds true for Original Medicare, Prescription Drug Program plans and Medicare Advantage plans. As long as you keep paying your premiums, your coverage will renew itself every year.

That said, there are four circumstances in which your plan will not renew:

  1. Medicare terminated the contract with your plan
  2. During the year, your plan left the Medicare program
  3. Your plan changed its service area and you now live outside it
  4. Your plan decides not to renew its Medicare contract

As your health needs change over time, you may decide you want more or less coverage than your plan provides you.
